Furness Waste Consortium

What is it?

The Furness Waste Consortium (FWC) was set up in 1991, by environmental representative of a wide range of organisations within North West England.

The Furness area, as an isolated peninusula location, had an over reliance on a virtually full tranditional landfill deisposal with no future provision.

Coupled to a relatively poor range of local waste management facilities, the FWC formed in response to the environmenal presures upon Furness and the impacts of industry, with a view to encourageing new solutions and sharing best practice.
